There are people around the world who think that this personage is just a symbolic representation of the evil of the human race. However, for Christians consecrated to Jehovah through Jesus, he is real, he is a self-willed individual, corrupted by his own selfish desire for worship.
In the Bible he is described as a real as any one of us and tells us about occasions when God's servants had to suffer because of him, these stories are intended to prevent us from falling into his traps. He seeks to divert our attention to trivial things that separate us from Christ and tries to put a wall so that we do not draw near to Him and that we can never fulfill a full consecration to Jehovah. Let's review the Biblical passages where he is described as real one.
To Jehovah he is a real creature
Please read Job 1: 6-7. Here it is related how Satan accused Job, a faithful servant of Jehovah as a hypocrite who ONLY WORSHIPED GOD FOR THE GOOD THINGS THAT HE GAVE HIM, we can know that he continues to do the same to all the servants of God until today since the bible describes him in Revelation 12:10 as "the accuser of our brothers, the one who accuses them before our God day and night." Jehovah argued with satan according to the story, this proves that for God, this evil creature is real, not just a symbol of human evil.
To Jesus he is a real creature
Please read Matthew 4: 1-11. Here it is related how satan tempted Jesus in a moment of weakness, after having fasted for 40 days, he tried to incite him to sin against God by inviting Christ to USE IN A SELFISH WAY THE POWERS THAT WERE GIVEN HIM. Then, quoting from the Holy Scriptures, of which Satan is also knowledgeable, he asked Jesus to throw himself from a high place and prove that he was truly the son of God, this was actually a way to PUT GOD TO THE TEST , which is a sin. The last temptation that Jesus had had to do with the kingdom that he was going to inherit. God promised him a kingdom if he fulfilled what he had asked him to do on earth, which was to die for everyone to restore what Adam lost with his disobedience. Satan promised Jesus that if he knelt down and worshiped him he would give him all the kingdoms of the world. Jesus no longer had to die cruelly and without further effort or suffering he could become a King, he only had to break his relationship with Jehovah by COMMITTING IDOLATRY AND DISOBEYING THE VOICE OF JEHOVAH. Of course Jesus was not deceived.
"The best trick the devil invented was to convince the world that he did not exist" (Charles Baudelaire, 19th century French poet)
To the first Christians he was a real creature
Please read Ephesians 6:12. The Apostle Paul knew that this creature was real, and he warns his contemporary Christians brethren by telling them that the devil is not alone, but that in the company of other evil spiritual creatures they war against the church, for this reason, he invites the church to “ (Put on) the whole armor of God, so that (they) can stand firm against the wiles of the devil".
Now that we know that he is a real creature and how he acted in the past, we can protect ourselves and resist this evil, we must imitate Jesus when he suffered the 3 temptations, in each one he responded with the word of God, this teaches us the importance of studying it every day to be attentive to any test of satan and overcome it. Only with the blessing of jehovah and being very focused on following in the footsteps of Christ we can defeat the devil.
